Gentle, creamy, and olive-rich—our Bastille Soap Oil Blend is perfect for creating mild, conditioning bars with a soft, creamy lather. With 70% olive pomace oil, this blend is ideal for sensitive skin and slow-curing artisan soaps. A touch of coconut oil adds cleansing power, while castor oil boosts lather.
Used in our own workshops, it’s a go-to choice for soapmakers who love soft, nourishing bars with a traditional feel.

WHAT IS BASTILLE SOAP?
Bastille soap is a term used to describe a soap recipe that is inspired by Castile soap, but with a twist.
• Castile soap is traditionally made with 100% olive oil. It's extremely gentle and moisturizing, but it can take a long time to cure and often has a slimy lather.
• Bastille soap (a blend of the words bastardized and Castile) uses at least 70% olive oil, but includes other oils like coconut oil (for better cleansing) and castor oil (for more lather).
So essentially, Bastille = modified Castile—a gentler bar than typical soap blends, but more user-friendly than pure olive oil soap.
