In honour of this years's Truth and Reconciliation Day, Starlite Soap Studio has created a limited edition of fifteen BEAR BARS.
100% of the proceeds of these premium quality, 130g chunky soap bars will be donated to the Indian Residential School Survivors Society. The IRSSS provides essential services to Residential School Survivors, their families, and to those dealing with intergenerational traumas.
These soap bars were inspired by our kind customer Trudy Spiller, a member of the Gitxsan nation. Her traditional name is Lugaganowals, and she belongs to the House of Gwininintxw. Trudy gifted us with two jars of rendered bear fat from the traditional hunting grounds of the Gitwangak Nation in northwestern BC. Rendered bear fat combined with our premium vegetable-based oil blend creates a luxurious, moisturizing soap bar.
The soap bars have been coloured to reflect the three colours of bears found in northern BC: the Black bear, the Grizzly bear and the Kermode ("Spirit") bear, and all have been scented with our fresh "woodland" scent, with notes of balsam, spice, cedarwood, musk and moss.
These limited edition soap bars sell for $10 each, and all fifteen are available for sale exclusively here on Starlite's website. Sales taxes and shipping costs apply, but free pick-up is available from our friends at Good Planet (use. the "pick up" option at checkout.) If the page shows "sold out," then we're sorry, they've all been taken!
